Our school has participated in the“Pilot Scheme on Social Work Service for Pre-primary Institutions” scheme introduced by the Social Welfare Department . Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Wong Chuen King Student Development Centre Social worker is stationed at the school every Monday and Friday, providing case counselling and consultation services and coordinates diverse activities to children and their family.
The school has join in the “On-Site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services” scheme introduced by the Social Welfare Department . The Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children provides the services by a professional team(psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists) providing assessment, training and consultation for children with special education needs or poorer learning abilities, and provide support services for children and family.
Our school adopts books from public publishers with different themes as our main tutorial materials. As to help non-chinese speaking students to be more familiar with the topics in the main curriculum and to enhance their language ability, we arrange supplementary activities for them in small groups. Reference to the main curriculum’s topics and teaching aims, supplementary activities highlight the key language elements including oral expression, vocabulary usage and reading skills to help with their daily life conversation. In addition, activities include different topics such as Mathematics and Arts to coordinate with the integrated curriculum.
At the same time, an observation form is designed for each student in each activity. As to cater the study needs of each student as well as for parents to have a well understanding of their child’s Chinese study progress effectively.
